request the Bureau of Reclamation to
reactivate studies on the Narrows Unit
and that we recognize the fact it has
been an authorized project. I would
like to have the records show that it
is not a new project but that we are
asking for an investigation of a proj-
ect that was authorized in 1944."

I

MR. BARNARD,JR.: "I would like to have a little
more clarification from the Bureau on .
this project before we take any offi-
cial action. I think we should ask
for details on when these studies will
be finished, how soon authorization can
be expected, when appropriation can be
secured, etc."

MR. MOSES: "Could we solve that by asking the
Bureau whether or not we could be of
any service in securing this appropria-
tion or in augmenting their funds with
some of ours in order to get the earliest
possible action."

MR. STAPLETON: "I amend Mr. Miller's mot~on to
read that this Board ask the Bureau of
Reclamation the status of the Narrows
Unit as it now exists with the Bureau;
what steps are needed to bring it up
to date; what help this Board can give
to facilitate this study and that we
have the report back before taking any
action but that the report be submitted
not later than July 1, 1958."

MR. BARNARD, JR.: "Second the motion as amended."

MR. MOSES: "Is there any discussion on this
motion as amended?"

MR. MILLER:

"My motion was simply to ask the
Bureau to make a further study of this
Project."

I

Mr. Vandemoer stated that if the motion as amended
went through, his organization's hands would be tied; that
they had merely asked the Board to go on record as asking for
studies to be made on channel storage on the lower South Platte.
