undoubtedly at our maximum program in this
regard at this time and each year hereafter
we should get a gradual decline, unless the
federal salaries increase enough to offset the
decline. We have 79 gaging stations now cur-
rently in operation. Have you noticed some
items where we have shown $1400 for gaging
stations? That included our half of the con-
struction of that gaging station, which con-
struction cost usually runs around $2,000. We
pay half."

"In this gaging, we contribute that much
to the Bureau and they run the stations."

"We contribute it to the United States
Geological Survey. They construct, operate
and furnish us then with the stream flow
records."

"Larry. could I ask a question back a
little bit? I notice here that there is noth-
ing indicated on this ground water codifica-
tion study but you indicated while ago it was
being carried on through the office. Ray
told us a little bit about it a while ago.
Is there anything being provided for that
purpose in the budget?"

"That is contained in the budget of the
Department of Natural Resources - Dr. Clark's
budget. That's actually under his jurisdic-
tion and he is the one to let the contracts
and is responsible for the supervision of the
entire program."

"That's the reason that there is not any-
thing shown for that this next year?"

"Right. Nothing budgeted for that in
our budget."

"Last year you had $5,000 indicated in
here."

"Yes, we did, but Dr. Clark is taking care
of that entirely in his budget this year."
