:>:>tH::l

waters from Lake Creek and also waters which
they divert from the headwaters of the Roaring
Fork through this particular tunnel. Both of
these reservoirs are being enlarged in capa-
city. Turquoise at the present time is about
17,000 acre-feet and will be increased to I
130,000 acre-feet capacity. Twin Lakes, with
a present capacity of about 54,000 acre-feet,
will be increased to a total capacity of about
166,000 acre-feet.

Out of ~~in Lakes we continue on down
through the Otero canal to the high ground to
the north of Clear Creek and at this point
feed the penstock into the otero power plant.
At this point Clear Creek acts as an afterbay
for the waters released from the power system,
from the otero power plant and from Clear
Creek Reservoir. The waters will be released
baclc into the Arkansas River from whence they
will go d~m the Arkansas River, down past
Canon city, and to Pueblo Reservoir which is
the terminal storage of the project.

Of significance is the Homestake Tunnel
"lhich comes across from Homestake Lake, \~hich
is on Homestake Creek on the \...est slope, and
discharges within about a quarter of a mile
of the outlet portal of the Fryingpan-Arkansas
Divide Tunnel. Homestake water then can come
dm...n through Turquoise Lake and can be con-
veyed down through the Elbert Canal through
the Elbert Power Plant, through Twin Lakes,
do\~n through Otero Canal to a point at the
head of the penstock to the Otero P~ler plant.
At this point is a bifurcation division of
water siphoning the Homestake water across
the Arkansas River and connecting to the
existing Homestake pipeline which> is in use_ I
at this point at the present time. This
agreement has been worked out and developed
through negotiations between the Homestake
Project, the Cities of Colorado Springs and
Aurora, and the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project,
and provides for 30,000 acre-feet of storage
within the project facilities and provides
