for the conveyance of this water through the
project facilities down to this point.

I

This is a mutually beneficial agreement
between the two projects and can be achieved
without any infringement upon the objectives
of the Fryingpan-AD_ansas Project and further,
without any increase in capacity or sizing of
any of the Fryingpan-Arkansas project facili-
ties. This is possible because you have to
have additional capacities in these reservoirs
and canals to handle water which is diverted
from the western slope at those times when
water is available and it means that at other
times you would have vacant capacity in your
systems. It is through this arrangement that
you are able to work out the handling of addi-
tional waters imported through ~le Homestake
project to their advantage, and to our advan-
tage certainly because the Homestake project
will provide substantial revenue for the Fry-
Ane project and in return, of course, we will
get some additional generation from waters
dropping through this one po\"er plant. So it
ends up by being beneficial to both projects.

I

I thirue at this point it might be well
to note there have been announcements recently
concerning modifications in the Fryingpan-
Arkansas Project. And there have been some.
Modifications on the west slope which I showed
previously have been minor, merely an adjust-
ment in sizing for actual field locations to
fit the ground as we collected our detailed
design data and prepared actual specifications
for going ahead with the wor]e. After \'1e come
through the Divide Tunnel we find there are
modifications of a more significant nature.
These modifications consist - first of all let
me say that the original authorized Fryingpan-
Arkansas Project provided for a total of seven
power plants in the power development scheme.
Those seven power plants started here at Elbert,
down to the otero Plant and on down towards
Salida with four more relatively small power
plants and one small power plant at Pueblo
