::>::>/4

be running parts of the published report which
I will not repeat. There are, however, some
slides \'lhich I \"lould like to sh9w which, of
course, are not in the published folder and
this is going to require some of you gentlemen I
at the table to turn around and possibly some
of those of you in the audience \"ould \'lant to
move. over to this side, so that you may have
a better viewing angle. (Colonel Hottenroth
used a screen and slides, handled by ~tr.
Groepler, to illustrate his presentation) .

I have been \'lOrking out of the Albuquer-
que District only since August of last year
and consequently most of the history, which
r,tr. Saunders has given us in regard to the
Trinidad Project, is something with which I
am not personally acquainted. I am aware of
the many complexities in this and of the many
people who have played dominant roles in the
planning of it and in bringing it to this
present state. I am aware particularly of
the work of Dr. Donnelly, of Judge Cheno\1eth,
of ~tr. Evans, along with Messrs. Dugan and
Ogilvie of the Bureau of Reclamation, as well
as the others \"lhom r,tr. Saunders has mentioned.
I wOuld certainly like to add the superfluous
compliments of the Albuquerque District for
those people who worked on this project.

I'd like to show a few slides covering
the physical features and other items perti-
nent to the Trinidad project. May we have
slide No.1, hurt, please? This gives (and
I trust the figures are the same as ~tr.
Saunders recited) the allocation of storage:
39,000 acre-feet for sediment; 20,000 for
irrigation, 51,000 for flood control; and
then the 4,500 acre-foot permanent pool; for I
a total of 114,500 acre-feet authorized by
congress. The structure itself consists of
an earth fill darn in length approximately
6,610 feet; the maximum height above the
streambed is 200 feet; end I'll have an
artist's concept of the dam to show you later.
It will have a crest of 6,650 feet with ogee
