delivery. The next contract will be let for
construction after water deliveries are com-
pleted in the fall.

That pretty well completes the report of
the Small Watershed portion of our water re-
source activities. I have the report for
the River Basin surveys also.

Under Type I Comprehensive Surveys,
Upper Colorado Region, survey operations are
generally organized and work assignments are
being developed. Eight federal departments
and five states are represented. Fourteen
wor]. groups have been established to develop
and organize basic data on a subject matter
basis, with participation by all governmental
or state agencies having an interest in the
assignments of each work group. Ten of the
14 work groups have already met and developed
work plans, outlines, and schedules.

An Upper Basin Staff has been organized
to coordinate work activities and provide a
general direction and staff assistance -for the
conduct of the survey. The Staff is now
engaged in the preparation of overall schedules,
coordinated budgets, report outline, and plan
of Study for the Upper Colorado Region.

The Soil Conservation Service and the
Colorado Water Conservation Board are
collaborating closely on all phases of the
survey activities. The River Basin Staff
has been increased to include two additional
engineers, a hydrologist, an additional soils
technician, and an engineering technical aide.

Present tentative schedules provide for
the completion of field work within the next
18 months, and preparation of the final re-
port in the spring of 1970.
