.

Alternatives and Strategies

Task 10 - Formulation of Water Supply Alternatives

Task 11 - Evaluation of Water Supply Alternatives

Task 12 - Water Supply Development Strategies

Ongoing Planning and Implementation Process

Task 13- Recommendations for an Ongoing Planning and Implementation Process

Task 14 -Development of a Study Database

Documentation

Task 15 -Study Documentation

Studv Process

.

The initial study tasks (Tasks 1 through 3) are intended to establish the public
involvement process, to collect and review data needed to perform the study and to
fma1ize the scope of work.

The state-wide setting for water use and development in Colorado will be described in
Tasks 4, 5 and 6.

The level of detail in Tasks 4 through 6 will be fairly general but adequate for use in later
study tasks and as a part of an ongoing planning process. It is expected that the major
portion of the study effort will be devoted to the work required in Tasks 7 through 12.

Basin descriptions in Task 7 will include information similar to the state-wide
descriptions in the preceding tasks but will provide much greater detail on the physical,
social, economic and institutional aspects of each major river basin in the state.

Water which is physically and legally available for development will be identified in
Tasks 8. Water demands projections will be the subject of Task 9.

Alternatives will be formulated and evaluated in Tasks 10 and 11 to address the demands,
issues and problems identified in each river basin. It is expected that a large number of
structural and non-structural plan elements will be used in various configurations and
evaluated in a multi-step screening process leading to the selection of one or more of the
most promising alternatives for each river basin.

.

Strategies for implementation of the most promising alternatives will be developed in
Task 12. The strategies will include measures that could be taken on a local, regional or

4
