In response to a request from <br />Boulder county, the Omaha District is <br />investigating the feasibility of snagging <br />and clearing Left Hand Creek, Boulder <br />Creek, st. Vrain River, and the Little <br />Thompson River. <br /> <br />Under Publi~ Law 99, the Corps of <br />Engineers has authority to make repairs <br />to a flood prote~tion works that have <br />been damaged by flooding. Following the <br />floods of May this year, an inspection was <br />made of local levees along the South Platte <br />River downstream from Denver. Authority <br />has been received for construction and we <br />expect construction to begin as soon as <br />field engineering and contractual arrange- <br />ments can be made. <br /> <br />Another program we have is the flood <br />plain information program. In our flood <br />plain information program We have completed <br />four volumes of flood plain information <br />reports on streams in the Denver area. <br />Volume V, which will cover Ralston Creek, <br />Leyden Creek, Van Biber Creek, Lena Gulch, <br />and Sanderson Gulch, is scheduled for <br />completion in January 1970. Volume I for <br />Left Hand Creek at Boulder was completed <br />during the past year. Studies are under <br />way for Volume II at Boulder covering <br />portions of Boulder and South Boulder <br />Creeks. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />In summary, the Omaha District's <br />construction program in the South Platte <br />River basin of Colorado in~ludes the Chat- <br />field and Bear Creek proje~ts.
