<br />Spring Gulch embankment. It also includes <br />the mass excavation for the outlet works. <br />Plans for the outlet works are about 75 <br />percent complete. The current schedule <br />calls for advertising in November 1970 with <br />contract letting in January of 1971. The <br />spillway design memorandum is being re- <br />viewed by our Missouri River Division <br />office. The spillway contract is scheduled <br />to be advertised in November of 1971 and to <br />be awarded in January of 1972. Relocation <br />of Colorado Highway 75 is nearing comple- <br />tion. Bridges and culverts were completed <br />last year, and the surfacing between them <br />should be completed this year. Negotia- <br />tion of a relocation contract between the <br />government and the Denver Water Board is <br />nearing completion. <br /> <br />Right-of-way acquisitions for the <br />South Platte channel improvement project <br />have been turned Over to the Water Conser- <br />vation Board staff. Minor modifications <br />in alignment are being made to facilitate <br />the acquisition for the necessary rights- <br />of-way. Depending on the availability of <br />funds and the status of rights-of-way <br />acquisitions, construction is scheduled <br />to begin in fiscal year 1971. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />On Bear Creek, the Mount Carbon proj- <br />ect was authorized by the FloOd Control <br />Act of 1968 as the Bear Creek Dam and <br />Reservoir. The Bear Creek reservoir would <br />control runoff from 236 square miles of <br />the Bear Creek basin and would provide 2,400 <br />acre-feet of storage for sediment and <br />26,000 acre-feet of storage for flood co~- <br />trol. The dam would consist of a rolled- <br />earth structure, 4,100 feet long and 143 I' <br />feet high. Use of the sediment pool for <br />recreation would provide a lake having <br />about 130 surface acres. Total cost of <br />Bear Creek Dam and Re'servoir. based on <br />1966 price levels, is $32,617,000. Of <br />
