comments. The law provides that by July
1st of next year, 1970, the Secretary
shall formally adopt for publication in
the Federal Register his long-range oper-
ating criteria for these reservoirs.

The language of Title VI of the act
passed last year was primarily language
which originated here within this state,
so we have a major interest in it. We
will have to remain vigilant for the next
few months to insure that the criteria
contained in Section 602 of the act are
not watered down.

We will be calling a meeting of our
Advisory Committee, the newly constituted
Advisory Committee which is now being
formed by the COlorado Water congress, to
review these criteria. We hope to adopt
a Colorado position on the criteria so
that we can advise the Governor of our
position when he has to formally comment
in January.

In the meantime, everyone here in
one way or another is interested in the
Colorado River. It behooves everyone to
study the criteria quite closely. Proba-
bly in September we will get the Advisory
Committee together.

out information on this problem to every-
