Board Membership - Appointment or re-appointment of <br />members not submitted by Governor. Mr. John Covert <br />appointed by the Governor in May 1984 was not confirmed by <br />the Senate. Chairman Robbins recommended that Director <br />McDonald send a letter to Mr. Covert expressing the Board's <br />appreciation for Mr. Covert's service during his tenure as <br />a member. All members concurred in this recommendation. <br /> <br />Aqenda Item 6 - Attorney General's Report <br /> <br />First Attorney General Wendy Weiss stated that the items <br />she planned to report on would be presented for discussion and <br />consideration during the executive session scheduled during the <br />lunch hour. <br /> <br />Chairman Robbins recommended that Director McDonald, on <br />behalf of the Board. prepare and transmit a letter to Paula <br />Phillips of the Attorney General's staff, expressing the <br />Board's appreciation for arguments prepared by Ms. Phillips in <br />the Water Division 2 Federal Reserved Water Rights litigation. <br />Board members concurred in this recommendation. <br /> <br />Aqenda Item 7 - State Enqineer's Report <br /> <br />State Engineer Jeris Danielson reported on the following <br />items: <br /> <br />1. Rio Grand Compact Issues - Spilling of Elephant Butte <br />Reservoir and cancellation of Colorado's debit to <br />downstream states. <br /> <br />2. Senate Bill 5. <br /> <br />3. State Engineer's Budget - 5 positions eliminated in the <br />Long Bill. <br /> <br />Mr. Wright moved, seconded by Mr. Smith. that the Attorney <br />General proceed with legal action to support the State <br />Engineer's request to dismiss the Supreme Court rUling with <br />reference to Colorado's obligation for water delivery to New <br />Mexico and Texas. Motion adopted unanimously. <br /> <br />Aqenda Item 8 - Development Authority's Report <br /> <br />Dan Law. Associate Director. reported on the following <br />items: <br /> <br />1. Status of St. Vrain Basin Study (under way) <br /> <br />-3- <br />
