The report was prepared to help <br />with the early identification of this year's drought impacts and related actions or mitigation measures. <br />All Board members should have already received a copy ofthe report in the mail. If you need an <br />additional copy or have any questions, please feel free to ask Brad Lundahl. <br /> <br />Stream Gaging Symposium: The Division of Water Resource along with the USGS and the CWCB <br />hosted a Stream Gaging Symposium on May 7 in Breckenridge. Topics included drought, bum area <br />activity, CWCB projects, streamgaging activity, technology, and user feedback. <br /> <br />April Drought Conference: On April 4 the Colorado Chapter of the A WRA and the Colorado Water <br />Wise Council hosted a conference entitled "The 2002 Drought: A True Watershed Event?" The <br />morning was devoted to exploring a variety of information related to the drought and the afternoon <br />sessions featured a facilitated workshop with a statewide panel of representatives who have been <br />impacted by drought. Rod Kuharich was the keynote speaker and he discussed the role of the CWCB <br />in addressing drought. <br /> <br />Governor Appoints New GOCO Members: Gov. Bill Owens has appointed Clarke D. Becker of <br />Woodland Park, Ron G. Holliday of Breckenridge and Rep. Carl Miller of Leadville to the State Board <br />of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund. <br /> <br />Rivers: <br />Lakes: <br /> <br />347 <br />259 <br /> <br />Clarke D. Becker will serve as a member from the Fifth Congressional District. For the last ten years, <br />Becker has worked with the Teller County Economic Development Council and has served as the <br />executive director since 2001. <br /> <br />Ron G. Holliday will serve as a member from the Second Congressional District. He currently serves <br />as a county manager in Summit County. Holliday received a master's degree in park administration <br />from Colorado State University and subsequently went on to become Montana's State Park Director <br />and later Director of State Parks in Colorado. <br /> <br />Rep. Carl Miller will serve as a member from the Fifth Congressional District. Miller has served as a <br />state representative since 1996. <br /> <br />The Governor appoints fourteen of the board's seventeen members. Board members serve four-year <br />terms and require Senate confirmation. <br /> <br />Upcoming CWC Events: The next two scheduled Colorado Water Congress events are: <br /> <br />· SB 73 Workshop, May 22 at the Northglenn Holiday Inn -- This conference will offer a one- <br />day "intensive" program on all aspects of Well use in the South Platte River Basin. <br /> <br />8 <br />
