I

MR. MILLER:

MR. GREER:

MR. MILLER:

I

MR. STAPLETON:

it which is capable of. discharging 1400 second
feet to the river, cubic feet per second, and
we've been using this reservoir and powerplant
as a peaking unit so that we operate it during
the peak power loads, in the evening and in the
morning. We might be actually discharging 1400
second feet at times although that maximum is
really a rare occurrence. But in any case, we
are discharging more water mornings and even-
ings than we are through the rest of the day,
and we cut it down quite low at periods. This
has caused concern to water users down the
river. We, of course, fixed up their headgates
before we ever started doing this but even
though we spent a lot of money and time to take
care of these people, it still doesn't operate
too successfully. But with '.an afterbay below
the dam we might have - well, I can't give the
capacity, it could be anywhere from 1,000 acre-
feet to 6,000, really, we are just getting into
it - but this afterbay then would store the
water on the peak discharges and flatten it out
and deliver it to the river on a more or less
regular basis."

"I'd like to ask one other que s tion in too t
regard. will it be possible to add supplemental
electrical generation?"

"We will study that. The powerplant below
the little dam for the afterbay, of course,
wouldn't have much head on it and it would be
what we call a 'run of the river' powerplant
to generate kilowatt hours as the water goes
through. But we will study that and see if the
powerplant is feasible."

"I would like to compliment you on your
. report on both the Cache la poudre and the
Narrows - I shouldn't say Narrows, I should say
channel storage - and I am sure you have done
a fine job."

"Mr. Greer, can you give us some idea on
the time schedule on the South Platte River
Basin Project?"
