The second part of the study, a historic
water utilization study, we had to determine
the water supply. Again it consisted of the
ground water, surface diversions, precipita-
tion, and to determine where this water goes to.
Part of it is canal losses; farm losses; con-
sumptive use by crops.

Both one and two are done. The third part
of the study is partially done. This consists
of determining the water available in the future.
In this we needed a water rights analysis and we
have completed that; a determination of the
Colorado-Big Thompson return flows, we have
completed that; a determination of future
municipal return flows, both as to quantity and
location, and we are deep into this. We haven't
completed the estimated amount of water that
might be in the river at various times from this
source. And we must determine the future level
of ground water pumping; that is, how much pump-
ing is going to be done in the future, and we
are also into this part of No.3. When these
are done, we'll be ready to go into No.4 which
is the determination that the Steering Committee
asked for of the difference between the two sites,
the Weld County and the Narrows.
