I

I

MR. KUIPER:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. HANNA:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. HANNA:

MR. KUIPER:

hearings are held on these projects and decisions
made, that they will have to be reintroduced in
the next session of Congress? And if so, the
fact they have been introduced during this
session, does that give them any priority in
the second session?"

"To answer your first question, unless they
are authorized by both Houses in this session,
and the authorization is signed into law, they
must be reintroduced in the next Congress.
There has to be a new bill in each Congress.
It can only stay alive from the first to the
second session in anyone Congress.

As to the second question, I think cer-
tainly the answer is yes. That they do have
some kind of a priority in a new Congress. They
have no especial priority, simply the fact they
have been considered. However, the order of
consideration of projects is substantially in
the hands of the Chairman of the Interior and
Insular Affairs Committee. So that so long as
we have either a Representative as Chairman
of that Committee or a friendly Chairman of
the Committee in either House, then I don't
think we need worry about the priority which
our projects will get in the new Congress."

"Any further questions from members of the
Board? Do any of our audience have any ques-
tions on the agenda so far that they would like
to address to Mr. Kuiper or others?"

"Mr. Kuiper, may I ask for that figure

"

"What is your name, please? will you take
that mike?"

"I want to ask, that $300 million you say
is in the 1962 appropriation - '63 appropria-
tion - how much is represented by the Colorado
River Storage Project? If you'd repeat that."

"It's about $130 million, Bert. I have the
budget here. Would you like to look at it after
