690

MR. CRAWFORD:

interested parties on the Western Slope
should be notified and they will be
notified the next time the gauging sta-
tions program is to be considered."

"I am sure the Bureau of Reclama-
tion and the U. S. G. S. would be
pleased to have the local people who
are interested come to these meetings
and be consulted as to installations and
.needs."

I

Dean Crawford continued by discussing criteria nec-
essary for the consideration of the projects. and stated that
the reconnaissance report previously mentioned merely pre-
sented evidence to indicate whether further study should be
made; that from this report they could determine what list of
projects should be considered; and that after discussion and
consideration by local interests, the Board could determine
what priorities should be given.

MR. It might be possible to have this
done through cooperation by the Civil Ser-
vice Commission; also it might be necessary
to have the appointment made on a contrac-
tual basis.

I

I would like authority from the Board
to expend about $3,000 from the $77.000
appropriation for a four months' water
study on the San Juan River." .

A discussion ensued as to the information that
could be obtained from such a study.
