<br />,uu <br /> <br />A definite plan report of the Navajo Unit is <br />scheduled for completion in December. 1957. The Chief Engi- <br />neer has been requested to prepare a design and estimate of <br />the dam. This data will be included in the definite plan <br />report. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Invitations are scheduled to be issued shortly for <br />construction of a small temporary construction camp to be <br />located about 5 miles below the dam. Present plans call for <br />the completion of construction specifications for the Navajo <br />Dam by February 1958 and award of the prime contract about <br />April, 1958. <br /> <br />Collbran Proj ect <br /> <br />The repayment contract for the Collbran project <br />has been approved by the Secretary of the Interior and re- <br />turned to the Collbran Conservancy District. The District <br />held a referendum yesterday, May 7, on approval of the con- <br />tract, the vote being 195 to 7 in favor. <br /> <br />Before the contract is awarded, 90 perqent of the <br />water must be under contract of purchase. Tabulations of <br />subscriptions as of I~y 2nd indicated that the project water <br />was oversubscribed by the irrigators in the amount of about. <br />2,000 acre-feet. <br /> <br />Invitations for bids on the construction of the <br />Vega Dam were issued on April 15 and will be opened on June <br />6. It is possible that bids will be awarded for the dam be- <br />fore the end of the present fiscal year. <br /> <br />Paonia Project <br /> <br />Completion of the definite plan report for the <br />Paonia project was scheduled for April 30. Due to a delay <br />in receiving the cost estimates, the report was unavoidably <br />delayed. We now anticipate transmitting copies of the re- <br />port to the Commissioner by May 15. <br /> <br />Detailed plans and specifications for the Paonia <br />Dam and road relocation will be completed within the next <br />two or three months.
