Their bid for the work was <br />$107,955,122. The contractor will be given 2.500 days or <br />about 7 years to complete the job and remove his equipment <br />and property from the site. It is possible that the work <br />will be completed in less time than allowed by the contract. <br /> <br />Recently the Secretary of the Interior announced <br />that the town to be constructed near the dam site will be <br />located on the southeast side of the river and will be known <br />as Page, Arizona, in honor of the late John C. Page. former <br />Commissioner of Reclamation. It is expected that the maxi- <br />mum population during construction of the dam and powerplant <br />may reach 10,000 persons and after completion of major con- <br />struction the population may be stabilized at about 4.000 <br />persons. Page will be a permanent town with residents en- <br />gaged in the maintenance of project facilities, tourist trade, <br />
