Mr. McDonald reviewed the matter for the Board <br /> <br />several questions from Board members. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this discussion, Mr. Kroeger called <br /> <br />upon Mr. Sam Maynes, the attorney for the Southwest Water <br /> <br />Conservation District and the La Plata Water Conservancy <br /> <br />Oistrict. Speaking on behalf of both districts, Mr. Maynes <br /> <br />noted that ali planning on the Animas-La Plata project was <br /> <br />completed and that a new water conservancy district had been <br /> <br />formed to act as the repayment entity of for the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Maynes requested that the Board support a request to <br /> <br />Congress for 2.87 million do1iars in Federal FY 1982 to <br /> <br />initiate construction on the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Kroeger then called Mr. Bili Bray, President of the <br /> <br />San Miguel Water Conservancy District. Mr. Bray noted, as <br /> <br />had Mr. Brown, the continuing problems which have confronted <br /> <br />the San Miguei project with regard to identifying an economic <br /> <br />feasible alternative. In light of thIs problem, Mr. Bray <br /> <br />urged the Board to support fundIng to continue planning on <br /> <br />the problem. <br /> <br />There being no further comments from persons in the <br /> <br />audience, the Board proceeded to consider its position on the <br /> <br />-8- <br />
