<br />upon Mr. Charles Thomson, Manager, Southeastern Colorado <br /> <br />j <br />t <br /> <br />Water Conservancy District, who indicated his district's <br /> <br />support for the President's budget request. <br /> <br />With respect to the Narrows project, fundlng for which <br /> <br />t <br />Q <br />N <br />~ <br /> <br />was not included In the PresIdent's approprIation request, <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald introduced into the record a February 24, 1981, <br /> <br />letter from the Lower ~outh Platte Water Conservancy District <br />(see Appendix C) and a March 5, 1981, letter from the Central <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservancy Distrlct (see Appendix D), both of <br /> <br /> <br />which letters indlcated those districtf's d~sire that the <br /> <br /> <br />Board in its testimony before Congress, request funding to <br /> <br />reinitiate construction on this project. At this point, Mr. <br /> <br /> <br />Kroeger called upon Mr. Don Ha~l, President of the Board of <br /> <br /> <br />Directors of the Lower South Platte Water Conservancy <br /> <br />District, to present any comments which that district might <br />~. <br />have. Mr. Ham~il proceeded to Introduce the members of his <br /> <br />board who were in attendance and then introduced Mr. Benjamin <br /> <br />Stapleton, the District's attorney. Mr. Stapleton gave an <br /> <br />overview of the recent history of the Narrows project, <br /> <br />indicating that the District intended to request a $400,000 <br /> <br />appropriation in the Federal FY 1982 budget to reinitiate <br /> <br />construction on the project.
