<br /> <br />The resolution was seconded and unanimously oarried. <br /> <br />Gecr ge A. Pughe, newly appointed member of the board, _s introduced <br />and the oath of office admi~istered to him by Judge John B. O'Rourke, <br />Judge of the District Court of the Sixth Judicial Distriot. <br /> <br />The director stated that a group interested in the proposed Blue River <br />diversion had requested the opportunity to appear before the board and that <br />a time for their appearance _s fixed for 3:00 o'olook in the afternoon. <br /> <br />Governor Carr entered the.meeting and took charge at the request of Mr. <br />Wallrioh, vice-ohairman. GOTernor Carr made a report on. the present status <br />of the Arkansas River oontroversy. He said the efforts for an amicable ad- <br />justment of the Arkansas River oontroversy with Ian.,. have been unsuccess~l <br />so far and Kansas, seems determined to go on with the.ase in the United States <br />Supreme Court. <br /> <br />The status of the North Platte case, in whioh testimony_s.concluded <br />the later part of December, _s next oonsidered. Ga'lrernor Carr reported that <br />he had arranged for a meeting of the governors of the three, states on March <br />6, 1942, in Cheyenne, to initiate-conversations for a. amioable settlement. <br />Attorneys and engineers for Colorado held a two aay meeting and disoussed the <br />polioy whioh should be follewed by Colorado, and their oonclusions have beEl!. <br />presented in writing to the board. The attorneys are preparing an abstraot <br />of the evidenoe for Colorado. <br /> <br />The Republioan River Compaot. situation was disoussed. A. statement eon- <br />oerning this had been furnished by the director to all the board members. <br /> <br />O. S. Warden, President of the National Reclamation Association, was <br />introduoed. He pointed out the vast expansion of reclamation in the western <br />states, with its many direct and indirect benefits. In speaking of authority <br />legislation he said that the states have entered upon a new era of relations <br />wi th the Government, and that we must work out these problems for the good of <br />our people. <br /> <br />There followed a general disoussion of proposed authority legislation <br />and the beet sugar question. <br /> <br />Vioe-ohairman Chris Wallrich expressed the appreoiation of the board to <br />Mr. Warden for attending and addressing the meeting. <br /> <br />The meeting was reoessed at 12:10 p.m. to reconvene at 1,30 p.m. <br /> <br />The meeting 'l'/8.S reconvened at 1140 p.m., February 26th by Vice-ohairman <br />Wallric4. <br /> <br />Copies of a finanoial statement of the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />were distributed but aotion on it was def/lrr/ld until the members had time to <br />study it. <br /> <br />M. C. Hinderlider reported on his conferenoe in Kansas with the oompact <br />oommissioners of the Republioan River. <br />
