<br /> <br />Judge Stone then asked for any remarks on the statement of policy covering <br />the North Platte case, and there followed a general discussion. <br /> <br />The latest authority bill on the Arkansas River, whioh was proposed by <br />Congressman Ellis of Arkansas and Senator Lee of Oklahoma, and which sets <br />up an authority on the lower portion of the river, was discussed. <br /> <br />Annual appropriations for the Bureau of Reolamation were next disoussed, <br />The Colorado-Big Thompson. project has a budget estimate for the next fisoal <br />year of $4,830,000 whioh is for carrying on the work i~ the tunnel, oompletion <br />of ~he diversion tunnel for Granby Reservoir, the oompletion of Green Mountain <br />Reservoir and power plant and a tunnel seotion of the oanal on the Eastern <br />Slope. The Colorado-Big Thompson projeot was given a defense rating but a <br />higher rating will be required to speed up the projeot so as to mampower <br />, available in 1944 in the interests of the present war produotion program. <br /> <br />Reference was made to the effort to step-up food produotion by govern- <br />ment agenoie 8, and of the reoent report on agrioul turd produoti on in the <br />Northern Colorado Water Conservanoy District as related to national defense, <br />by Mr. Dyer and Mr. B&rkley of the water board staff~ <br /> <br />The relation of power .development on reolamation projeots to our mineral <br />resouroes was oonsidered. <br /> <br />After disoussion Mr. Bailey moved that the Direotor prooeed to <br />investigate the possibilities of oooperating with the State Metal <br />Mining Fund in developing definite action with regard to the develop- <br />ment of the state's mineral resouroes. Motion was seoonded by Mr. <br />Dille and unanimously passed by the board. It was deoided that Judge <br />John B. O'Rourke assist the Direotor on this partioular problem. <br /> <br />A group of sponsors of the proposed Blue River diversion projeot entered <br />the meeting.. This group represented Denver, Adams. Jefferson, Douglas, Boulder <br />and Arapahoe oounties and appeared to seek the board I s oooperation and help on <br />various matters oonnectedwith the proposed Blue River projeot. Mr. Glenn G. <br />Saunders, on the staff of the Denver City_ Attorney. and Mr. William W. Ge.unt, <br />attorney from Brighton,'were spokesmen for the group. <br /> <br />Mr. Gaunt stated that they had had a oonference with Mr. Page at the last <br />meeting of the National Reolamation Assooiation and that Mr. Bunger has been <br />assigned to further study the .development of this Blue River projeot. He <br />briefly explained the prinoi pal features of the projeot and the need for the <br />formation of an organization to promote the projeot and to help work out the <br />various features so that no partioular part of the state will be injured in any <br />way by the proposed diversion of water from the Colorado River basin. <br /> <br />George M. Corlett appeared before the board and presented various problems <br />with respeot to the Rio Grande Compaot and the San Luis Valley projeot. <br /> <br />The division of moneys made available under the Colorado River Develop- <br />ment Fund to the four upper Colo ado river basin states by the Boulder Canyon <br />Projeot Adjustment Aot was then oonsidered.
