<br />87 <br /> <br />Status of F1.oridil Project. Studies of present and anticipated <br />economy and repayment. ability of project water users have been completed <br />but are as yet unchecked. Chapters of the substantiating materials <br />entitled "Multiple Uses" and "Agricultural Economy" have been completed <br />indraft form. The project report is sCheduled for completion by <br />February 1949. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Status of Gunnison River Project. Land resource studies are <br />advanced to about 80 percent of completion and water supply studies <br />are half completed. Field engineering studies are about 40 percent <br />completed. Topographic mapping of the Bridgeport Reservoir basin and <br />dam site are approaching completion, and drilling at the dam site is <br />under way. Land classification of lands in the Whitewater unit is in <br />progress. <br /> <br />Status of Grand VallW Pumpirig..; Project. Land classification studies <br />arein progress and are now more than one-third completed. Upon com- <br />pletion of these studies, investigations of other phases of the project <br />will be cormnenced. <br /> <br />Status of Smith Fork Project. Field engineering work has been com- <br />pleted. Flood studies are under way for the spillwa;y deSign, and perti- <br />nent design data collected. Design work on the dam is well advanced. <br />Exploration for construction materials is nearing completion and a part <br />of the material has been tested in the laboratory. Land use studies are <br />about 25 percent completed. Issuance of a proj eat report is SCheduled <br />by July 1949. <br /> <br />Status of San Miguel Project. Field engineering on this project <br />is about 40 percent complete, with the most work done.on surveys of <br />potential canal lines, with some work done on dam site and reservoir <br />surveys. The investigation of land resources is well under way and <br />some progress has been made on water supply studies and the preparation <br />of designs and estimates for potential canals. <br /> <br />The work will be accelerated in fiscal year 1949 if sufficient <br />funds are available. <br /> <br />Status of Little Snake River Project. Because of lack of funds <br />the investigation of this project was suspended at the end of fiscal <br />year 1947. It is planned to resume the work early in fiscal year 1949 <br />(commencing July 1, 1949, assuming the funds will be available.) <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Tipton reported on the status of the underground water investiga- <br />tions in the San Luis Valley, a study of the sub-drain of the valley. He re- <br />ported also on the Conejos Project. Mr. Breitenstein supplemented the infor- <br />mation on the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Thompson of Region 5, Bureau of Reclamation, presented a brief <br />analysis of the sums set up in the Bureau of Reclamation expenditure <br />
