.

.

.

4. FPR 00-498: Town of Parker. Flood Insurance Study (FIS) dated March 2, 1993 was
prepared by FEMA and includes approximate and detailed floodplain information for various
flooding sources within the town. The requested action for this report is designation and
approval by the Board for a specific reach of Cherry Creek within Parker in order to meet
statutory requirements. In addition, it is requested that the Board rescind floodplain information
for the same reach of Cherry Creek in a previously designated study.

DISCUSSION
Attaclunents I through 4 summarize the findings of the staff review for each of the floodplain
studies for which designation has been requested.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The detailed floodplain information being considered for designation and approval as outlined in
Resolutions Nos. 00-510. 00-511. 00-497. and 00-498 meets the applicable requirements of the
Board's "Floodplain Designation and Approval Rules". The approximate floodplain information
being considered within those 4 resolutions does not meet the applicable requirements of the
Board's "Floodplain Designation and Approval Rules". However, staff recommends designation
and approval of the approximate reaches subject to the local government requiring a detailed study
prior to certain development activities in those areas. '

Resolution No. 00-511 will later be rescinded once a new study is published, reviewed, and
designated by the Board for the City of Lakewood.

It is recommended that previously designated floodplain information for certain stream reaches
in the Town of Parker be rescinded by the Board as outlined in Resolutions 00-497 and 00-498.
The staff recommends acknowledgment and rescission action be taken on that information.

PROPOSED MOTION
The Board, having reviewed the Board memorandum and accompanying Attaclunents 1,2,3, and 4
summarizing proposed Floodplain Resolutions Nos. 00-510, 00-511, 00-497, and 00-498, now
moves as follows:

1. To designate and approve as detailed and approximate 100-year floodplain information for the
City of North glenn the subject maps for Resolution No. 00-510.
2. To temporarily designate and approve as detailed and approximate 100-year floodplain
information for the City of Lakewood the subject maps for Resolution No, 00-511, with the
understanding that this resolution should be rescinded once a new Flood Insurance Study is
published and approved,
3, To designate and approve as detailed and approximate floodplain information specific stream
reaches for Cherry Creek, Sulphur Gulch, and Tallman Gulch Tributary for the Town of Parker,
and to acknowledge and rescind selected reaches for various streams in previously designated
floodplain studies for Resolution Nos. 00-497 and 00-498.

I:\boardmemljan 2000\consent agenda 4-2a-d.doc

2
