O'Rourke and seconded by J. <br />M. Dille that a com.~ittee consisting of Director Stone. State <br />Engineer M. c. Hinderlider. and EI Roy Nelson be appointed to <br />act as a liaison committee for the Board in connection with the <br />carrying out of the above mentioned contract with the U. S. Geo- <br />lcgical Survey and providing for the maintenance of the proper <br />relations with that agency. <br /> <br />The Director then oalled the attention of the Board to financial <br />matters which required attention prior to the closing of the present bien- <br />nium on June 30. 1945. The various finanoial items requiring action of <br />the Board are as follows: <br /> <br />1. Payment of Colorado's share of the fees and expenses of the <br />Special Master in the North Platte case (The State of Nebraska, Complain- <br />ant VB. The State of Wyoming. Defendant. The State of Colorado. Impleaded <br />Defendant. and The United States of ~erica. Intervener). <br /> <br />2, ,Participation by the Colorado Water Conservation Board in <br />the payment of the oost of printing the Biennial Report of the State En- <br />ginee~. <br /> <br />3. Payment of the sum of $6,300. being the balance due the U. <br />S. Geological Survey under the existing cooperative contract expiring <br />June 30. 1945 for the installation. maintenance and operation of gaging <br />stations for use in making project investigations. <br /> <br />4. Payment of a part of the a.mount due the U. S. Geological <br />Survey under cooperative agreement for the installation, maintenance and <br />operation of gaging stations for project investigations for the fiscal <br />year beginning July 1. 1945. <br /> <br />5. Payment of a portion of the annual a ssessment against Colo- <br />rado for the expense and maintenance of the National Reclamation Associa- <br />tion. <br /> <br />It was pointed out by the Director that there was approximately <br />$21.000 rffinaining in the appropriation made to the Colorado Water Conser- <br />vation Board for the present biennium; and that the above items should be <br />paid out of this sum in order tb keep the obligations of the Board cur- <br />rent and to avoid making an undue draft upon the funds for the next bien- <br />nium. <br /> <br />Je~~ S. Breitenstein. Attorney for the Colorado Water Conserva~ <br />tion Board. was called upon to explain the nature and extent of expendi- <br />tures which must be made at the present tine in the above mentioned North <br />Platte case. He read an order of the Supreme Ccurt of the United States <br />which provides that Michael J. Doherty, Esquire, Special Master in the <br />North Platte case. was awarded the sum of $45.000 as compensation for his <br />
