I

in connection with this problem. The other
problems are in connection with acreage limit-
ations. The 160 acre limitation on this proj-
ect is simply not practical. That means that
we will have to ask special Congressional
authority to exceed the acreage limitations.
The project is now pending in the Congress
and has the endorsement of both Colorado and
Wyoming and we see no reason why it should
not be enacted sometime during this session of
Congress. When I speak of this session, this
session, of course, lasts two years.

I

Very briefly, in connection with other
fields, we have been working very closely with
the Game and Fish Department. We have tried
to establish closer liaison with that depart-
ment with Dr. Clark's assistance, and with
the Federal Bureau of Sports Fisheries and
wildlife. We try to eliminate any conflicts
that may arise in the future before they occur.
Our liaison in the past between the Federal
agencies themselves and between our own state
agencies has left much to be desired. We are
now trying to meet regularly on these projects
so that there is no delay or controversy in
the project report. We are giving every possi-
ble assistance to the Game and Fish Department
with their projects, doing some of the engi-
neering work - the hydrology - and other mat-
ters in which we can be of considerable
assistance to them. Just last week I appeared
before the Game and Fish Commission to support
a favorable recommendation on one of their
projects, the hydrology of which was performed
by our own engineering staff. We think there
is a fertile field for close cooperation be-
tween all the state agencies which heretofore
has not really existed.

We have taken another look at our ground
water program and are expanding that somewhat
to make more detailed studies of ground water
and drill to deeper depths to tap aquifers
from which we have no information at the pre-
sent time. It will mean a slight retrenchment
