That, briefly, is the status at the
present time. If the Legislature appropri-
ates the funds we have requested we will
immediately enter into a contract with the
Bureau and acceleration of expanded feasibil-
ity investigations will commence immediately."

"The 'long' appropriation bill has not
been introduced, has it?"

"It has not been introduced."

contributions from other governmental agen-
cies? Do we have a policy? We have accepted
some such funds, I know."

"We have accepted funds - rather, I'll
say, ~ have not really accepted them. We
have passed them on to the Bureau of Recla-
mation and in some cases we have requested
those agencies to enter into a direct contract
with the Bureau of Reclamation."

"Knowing so little about the fiscal poli-
cies of the state, then it would seem to me
we can't very well put them into the General
Fund and get them out as a manner of their
supplementing what's needed. Is that it?"

"That is correct. It is purely a supple-
ment to our contract with the Bureau."

"You will recall at our last meeting,
there was a great deal of emphasis on haste
in getting this steering committee together,
and I'd like to point out to the members of
the Board and to our audience that it was
certainly thought advisable to at least wait
until we had our appropriation to get started.
In 'talking with Larry, it was my feeling, and
Mr. Miller's too, that we can get the steer-
ing committee organized very shortly after
the appropriation is passed. Is that cor-
rect?"
