This meeting will be held at Topeka, .Kansas, on Maroh 18 and <br />19, 1946. <br /> <br /> <br />Thereupon Direotor Stone reported on a meeting whioh he and Chief <br />Engineer Patterson had recently held with Direotor E, O~ Larson, Regional <br />Director of Region 4. Bureau of Reolamation, at Grand Junotion, Colorado <br />to discuss Colorado projeots and investigations within his area and to devise <br />ways and means for more effeotively oorrelating the work of the State and <br />the Bureau of Reolamation. W. Lohman again appeared before the Board and reported that the <br />Geologioal Survey had reoeived a supplementary allotment of funds for under- <br />ground investigation in the Missouri Basin. He further stated that the sum <br />of $5,000 had been allotted for ground water work in Colorado, speoifioally <br />for studies in the South Platte Basin. He said that the expenditure of <br />this money would not require matohing funds from the State of Colondo and <br />would be in addition to the U, S. Geologioal Survey expenditures under the <br />present underground water study in thl!> state. This ml!>ans, he said, that <br />the $5.000 will be ..n addition to the $50,000--$25,000 from the U.S. Geo- <br />logioal Survey and $25,000 from the Statl!>, for underground water study in <br />the State. This $5,000, however, must be spent in that portion of Colorado <br />whioh lies in the Missouri Basin; He explained that no attsmpt would be <br />made to utilize thesl!> additional funds through the existing staff but. it <br />would mean that additional men would be pu;t to work in order t'o oarry on <br />the investigation in the South Platte Ba.llin. . <br /> <br />Direotor Stone then reported on the status of the investigations of <br />the Gwmison.J.rkanaas transmountain diversion. He explained that meetings <br />had bIlen held at Gunnison and in the Arkansas Valley at whioh time a pre- <br />liminary, physioal plan had been explaiped to interested groups. He further <br />stated that at the appropriate time E. B. Debler.
