<br />123 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />The Di;ector reported that only $25,000 for underground water investi- <br />gations has been submitted in the biennium budget estimate by the ilqard for <br />1949-51, on the advice of the State Comptroller, but that the Legislature may <br />ma!j:e upward revision of the total, if representatives cf areas of the state <br />interested in underground waLer ~nvestigations would ~romote more funds by con- <br />tacting their rep'resentatives. <br /> <br />Regarding Item 11, "Board Administrative Matters", Director S1::one reported <br />that no selection has been made yet ~or.a new Chief Engineer, although several <br />candidates are being considered. <br /> <br />Mr. Dille moved that the minutes as prepared for the Board me~ting of <br />September 27-28, 1948, be approved and adopted. Upon being seconded by Mr. <br />Pughe, the motion was put to vote and carried. <br /> <br />Director Stone announced that 20 copies of the Director's report on the <br />Blue-South Platte Project had been rec.eived for state distribution, but only <br />five sets of the appendices. Distri~ution was set up as follows: Complete <br />sets (report and appendices) to dater Board office (2); Colorado River Vlater <br />Conservancy District (1); jointly for use of Frank Delaney and Judge Hume ~hite, <br />policy com~ittee member (1); and Denver Water 30ard (1). Copies of the <br />Director I s report to "11embers of the lIater Board. <br /> <br />Director Stone recommended appointment of a Policy and Review Committee <br />for study of the Blue-South Platte Project, similar to the Committee for the <br />first stage of the Gunnison-Arkansas Project. He said the two Committees might <br />save some over-lapping membership, but should not be identical in personnel. <br /> <br />It was moved by Mr. Bannister and seconded by Mr. Dutcher that a Policy <br />and Review Committee for the proposed Blue-South Platte project be authorized; <br />and that such committee consist of seven members as follows: Two representing <br />the Colorado Nater Conservation Board, two representing the proponents of the <br />project, two representing the affected areain ,'{estern Colorado and one repre- <br />senting the City of Colorado Springs. The members of the committee shall be <br />designated by the Director, prOvided, that the commi~tee.ftesi~~es from the <br />Jest Slope, East Slope and Colorado Springs shall be s~ch'personscas are re- <br />commended by the above respective affected areas. - "'~9c_ <br />;-.. The contract involves a figure of ~~2Ge;~bo cost. He said <br />invitation for aids would be made in February, bids received in ~arch, and the <br />contract award made in April or May. The project involves 600,000 acre feet of <br />water for supplementary uses and for flood control. <br />
