<br />117 <br /> <br />, WHEREAS, The Board further finds that the Compact <br />is fair and equitable and furnishes as essential basis <br />for the development of the water resource of the Upper <br />Colorado River. <br /> <br />.~ <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Colorado <br />Water Conservation TIoard approves the Upper Colorado River <br />Basin Compact signed at Santa Fe, New Mexico, on October 11, <br />19u8, and urges the General Assembly of the State of Colo- <br />rado to ratify that Compact at as early a date as is con- <br />sistent vdth orderly legislative procedure. <br /> <br />FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon the ratification of the <br />Compact Qy the signatory States the Congress of the United <br />States should be urged to give its consent and approval to <br />the Compact. <br /> <br />FUR'rHER RESOLVED, That the Board commends the Colorado <br />Commissioner and his advisers for the work which they have <br />done in negotiating the Compact. <br /> <br />FURTHER RESOLVED' That copies of this Resolution shall <br />be forwarded by the Secretary of the Board to each member of <br />the General Assembly of the State of Colorado and to the Sena- <br />tors and Congressman representing the State of Colorado in <br />the Congress of the United States. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />The motion to adopt the resolution was seconded by <br />Mr. Pughe and, upon vote being taken, it was unanimously <br />carried and declared adopted. <br /> <br />The Board took up discussion of the draft form of the Arkansas River Com- <br />pact. Judge Stone briefly reviewed the history of compact negotiations, and the <br />changes in Commission personnel. He said the Commissioners desired an expression <br />of approval of the provisions of the Compact, before the Commi~sioners represent- <br />ing Colorado, affixed their signatures to the docll.'Ilent. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Director Stone moved the adoption of the following resolution; .which motion <br />was seconded, put to vote, unanimously carried and declared adopted, to-wit: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Hater Conservation <br />Board that the proposed Compact between the States of <br />Colorado and Kansas, for t'le distribution of water from <br />John Martin Reservoir Project, as the same is set out in <br />the mimeographed draft thereof of date November 10, 19u8, <br />be and the same is hereby approved, provided: . <br /> <br />.,,--- <br /> <br />(a) Paragraph F of Article V is subject <br />to such revisions as may be unanimously agreed <br />to by the Colorado Compact Commissioners.' <br />
