representatives is scheduled for July 20 to develop a joint recommendation to the CWPF
Designees.

The table below (produced by the Colorado Department of Revenue) compares this year's
revenue for each of the 16 tax-checkoff funds with that of the previous year. As shown in this
table, the revenue for the CWPF from July I, 2005 to June 30, 2006 is just under $86,000. This
amount is approximately $4,350 less than the revenue for the same period in 2005. After the
assessed fee has been paid to the Colorado Department of Revenue (approximately $1,000) and
the operating expenses of the CWCB have been met (15%), approximately $72,000 will be
available for this year's grants.
· The threshold to remain on the list of tax-checkoff funds is $75,000 collected between January
through June 30 of that tax year. The CWPF's revenue during this period in 2006 was approximately
$81,000, which is barely above the threshold, in part due to lack of adequate publicity and/or
advertising.

For your infonnation, the General Assembly created the CWPF tax checkoff program in the 2002
legislative session. The slated purpose of the program is to, "assist in the restoration and the
protection of lands and natural resources within watersheds of the state" by providing grants ''for
local watershed efforts". The CWCB and the Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC), in
cooperation with the Colorado Watershed Assembly, administer the program. The CWCB is also
responsible for the administration of the funds. The four CWPF Designees are Barbara Biggs and
Rod Kuharich (CWCB), and Brian Nazarenus and Dick Parachini (WQCC).
