supported by local communities are in the proj-
ect plan for later action.

Other project applications include similar
sponsors in multi-county areas in northwest
Colorado, the Colorado River Valley, the San 1
Juan Basin and the San Luis Valley. Application
interest is also strong in multi-county areas in
southeast and northeast Colorado. 38 counties
are included in these applications. Unfortunate-
ly no new RC&D project planning starts are
included in the 1971 Budget Bureau plans. Over
200 city and county governments in Colorado are,
project sponsors along with soil conservation
districts on these projects.

Another activity that we are involved in
is that we have the departmental leadership
responsibility for outdoor recreation develop-
ment on private land. We cooperate with many
other agencies to provide needed assistance for
development of recreational activities with
soil conservation district operators, towns and
counties.

Now getting near the end of the story,
there are some other facilitating operations
that are involved with other federal and state
agencies as special parts of authorized programs
or operations. For example, the Agricultural
Conservation Program of ASCS. Sollie 6,000 ACP
referrals are serviced each year by SCS which
involve about $3 million or $3~ million cost-
shares to farm and ranch operators.

Technical assistance through interagency
agreements with the Farmers Home Administration
provide assistance to that agency in resource
inventories for farm, ranch and association
loans.

I

A special agreement between SCS and the
U. S. Forest Service provides for SCS technical
assistance to organizations constructing water
developments within national forests.
