;

ATTACHMENT 3

.

FPR 00-522
Flood Insurance Rate Map, Town of Grand Lake, Colorado, dated January 1,
1986.

KEY ISSUES:
. The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) was [onnerly a Flood Hazard Boundary Map (FHBM)
completed by the Federal Insurance Administration on September 17, 1976.
. FEMA converted the FHBM to a FIRM by letter on January I, 1986 without making any technical
revisions or changes to the regulatory map.
. The community has requested that FEMA expand the study into developing areas and areas where
annexations have taken place.

COMMUNITY RESPONSE:
A notification letter was sent by CWCB staff to the local floodplain administrator to inform
the Town of the proposed Board action. The Town transmitted a letter to CWCB staff
requesting Board designation and approval of the floodplain information. The formal
designation and approval for this study is being taken under Rule 9.D.l, community request.

SUMMARY:
The staff recommends Board approval of the floodplain resolution for the Town of Grand Lake that
designates two stream reaches published on the January I, 1986 Flood Insurance Rate Map. Formal
action by the Board will assure that the floodplain information has been appropriately recognized
by the state, thereby complying with state statutory requirements.

.

.

6
