,

MR. JACOBSON:

MR. SPARKS:

I

MR, STAPLETON:

We anticipate that this entire construc-
tion period will run somewhere into 1972 to
1975, All these things are dependent upon,
of course, when they are started but this one
we can pretty well fim up from the Bureau's
studies at the present time - that it will be
completed by the middle of 1966, .the Blue
~~sa unit. The others just depend on how
soon they are started. This whole thing could
be accelerated, for instance, if the Morrow
Point unit can be started in 1963. However,
it is not too practical to start those units
until the Blue Mesa unit is well on its way.

The Blue Mesa unit is an earth and rock
fill type dam. The other two will be con-
crete arch type dams. The expenditure of
money required to complete these two units,
starting with $1,400,000 the first year, next
year it will require $4,700,000, the third
year $8,000,000~ the fourth year $9,000,000,
the fifth year ~lO,OOO,OOO, the sixth year
$14,280,000, then it starts tapering off to
$9,000,000, $9,200,000 and $6,000,000 to com-
plete the project, totals up to a little over
$72,000,000. That does not include the trans-
mission division which will take approximately
another ten million dollars to complete,

We will try to point out something about
the high water marks of the reservoir on the
tour. If possible, Jake, I know the people
from Gunnison particularly, and those that
live in the area, would like to have a good
idea of these points of interest,"

"The yellow flags are the recreation
areas, the white flags are the site of the
dam."

"The red flags will be the high water
mark. I'd like for the Board members to
particularly pay attention to the deer range
that we are going through. We proceed from
here right on down the canyon for those of
you who are driving their own cars and you
can get right into the convoy."

"I want to remind the Board that the next
meeting of the Board is at Alamosa on Monday,
August 15th. Dick, who's planning the pro-
gram down there?"
