MR. PETERSON:

MR. SPARKS:

eight miles are involved in that, Of course,
both bridges being long, means we've go:L 2400
feet of bridges to construct in this section.
That's a lot of bridges. They will be rela-
tively wide bridges too. I don't recall
whether or not the plans call for any sidewalk
space, so to speak, on those bridges, but
these will be quite spectacular bridges so we
hope to have places where pedestrians can walk
out and look over the edge.

I

There will be parking areas provided in
the vicinity of those bridges.

There are two major recreation areas, one
here between Lake Fork and Pine Creek, south
of the reservoir, The other major recreation
area is just east of East Elk Creek and north
of the reservoir, right along the relocated
highway along East Elk Creek. Then there are
two so-called minor recreation areas, Now
the difference between these major and minor
recreation areas is that the major areas will
have permanent type buildings such as restau-
rants, service stations, etc" and the minor
areas will be primarily camping, trailer camp
areas, boat docks, and so on. One of the
minor areas is located just east of Sa pinero
and along the south side of the reservoir,
just up on the little mesa south of the river,
The other minor recreation area is just south
and west of Iola along the edge of tbe reser-
voir, about a mile southwest of lola,

It is going to take some three million
dollars - over three million dollars - of
federal funds to construct these recreation
areas under the present plans. Then con-
cessionaires will necessarily have to spend
something like another three million dollars
to construct their concessions, So there will
be approximately six or seven million dollars
invested in recreation areas."

"Is that the National Park Service or the
State Park Service program?"

"This is the National Park Service pro-
gram. vIe have gentlemen here from the National
Park Service. Do you have anything to add on
these recreation areas?"

I
