I

I

MR. PETERSON:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. PETERSON:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. MILLER:

MR. STAPLETON:

JO:1..L

Wade, who is the senior House member of the
Budget committee, undoubtedly will be here on
the afternoon's agenda and it might be very
well to speak to him. I thought, in the budget
hearing, he was receptive to travel considera-
tions.

For the information of our audience, at
the budget hearing we were fortunate enough to
have four lay Board members present with the
Director in the presentation. That is certainly
an indication, again, of this Board's interest
in the water problems of this state.

And I think, Mr. Eakes, you and other
interested water users can speak more loudly
and perhaps with more effect to the Legislature
in these matters than we can, and without
pressure. I would hope that if you think that
money which has been given to this Board has
been used efficiently that you might indicate
your thoughts to the Joint Budget Committee."

"Mr. Chairman."

"Mr. Peterson."

"I would be willing that the savings in
state income tax of $6.40 that was made by my-
self be paid back to the state again if it
would help:"

"Well, I'm sure that won't be necessary.

Mr. Eckles has a proxy from Governor Love
for this meeting and in accordance with our
general practice we'll recognize that proxy of
Mr. Eckles at this meeting unless I hear some
objections from members of the Board."

"Mr. Chairman, I don't want to object to
that but I would like to comment a little about
the inter-agency committees meetings."

"If you will just let me get through.
Hearing no objections, the proxy will be re-
ceived.
