.j btlU

We'll now go to the report of the Omaha
District. Mr. Slizeski, please."

MR. SLIZESKI:

"Mr. Chairman, members of the Board, the
following summarizes the status of our studies
in the South Platte River basin since our report
of September 11th.

I

On Flood Control Studies in the Upper South
Platte River, a series of hydrologic studies
have been initiated to analyze the extent of
reduction in flood discharge potential which
could be achieved by flood control storage in
the upper South Platte basin. The study has
been programmed for computer analysis to evalu-
ate the many variables inherent in the problem.
However, further study is necessary before the
results can be utilized for evaluating economic
feasibility of flood control storage.

On Flood plain Information Studies, the
final draft of the flood plain information re-
port on the South platte River through metropoli-
tan Denver has been forwarded to the Chief of
Engineers for review. We anticipate a prompt
review to enable formal publication at an early
date. A brief summary report, in addition to
the full report, will be published for distribu-
tion to nontechnical interests.

Volume II of the report, covering Sand,
Tollgate and lower Cherry Creeks, is being
assembled in draft form for review by the
Division Engineers at this time.

Because of the limited funds available
nationally for flood plain information studies,
and its effect on allocations to the Omaha
District, we have proposed to the Chief of
Engineers a mo~ification of the scope of studies,
to permit earlier completion of the remaining
reports. The scope of the reports scheduled
after Volume II will be based on the response to
our proposals.

I

On Small Flood Control Projects, the only
