.."vv""'

brought with me the results of the storage as
of November 9th in our three main structures.
At Glen Canyon we had 2,682,000 acre-feet in
storage; at Flaming Gorge, 916,500 acre-feet;
and at Navajo, 373,200 acre-feet. We hope that
by next spring we can better that substantially.

I,

On the Curecanti unit, Blue Mesa Dam and
Powerplant, this work, under the prim~ contract,
is about 45 percent completed. On October 8th
the flow of the Gunnison River was diverted
through the diversion tunnel to bypass the dam
area proper. The contractor has started on
his foundation excavation in the river channel
and this material that he. is excavating from
the river channel is then placed in the upstream
zone of the dam.

At Morrow Point the contractor is continu-
ing with essentially preparatory work; building
his access road. He is also preparing his
foundation for the tail towers, the cable way,
across the dam area. As a matter of interest,
I think you gentlemen saw those tail towers when
you were at Flaming Gorge. He will use those
same towers at the Morrow Point Dam. Actual
work on the dam proper is about 2~ percent com-
pleted as of the present time.

On the highway relocation, the second seg-
ment of u. S. Highway 50 was completed and has
been put in operation. The third segme~t is
under way. This is the segment through Gunni-
son Canyon and it consists principally of
pioneering through this canyon area, principally
rock excavation. Some structural steel has been
placed on the bridge across the Gunnison River
which takes off from Highway 50 and goes to
Lake City.

Very good progress has been made on the
Transmission system. One new item is that a
section of the 85 mile 230-kv transmission line
from Curecanti to Midway, bids have been opened
on this section. Award is pending. The bid on
this section was about $3~ million.

I
