STAPLE'IDN:

-.

MR-:' SPARKS:

)
As I pointed out in the memo of June -
23rd, we were given an appropriation of
$100,000 by the last Legislature for coopera-
tive studies, and that, with a carryover
balance of $22,397.71, gives us a total of
$122,397.71. That money must be allocated
throughout the State.

I

The recommendations I made in the memo-
randum were $30,000 for the Fruitland Mesa
and Bostwick Park'projects, $lOhOOO for the
Rio Grande Salvage project and ~22,OOO for
the San Miguel project, making a total of
$62,000, which would leave us a balance in
that fund of $60;397.71. Those projects are
in the final completion stages and could be
completed in F. Y. 1960. That is the reason
for recommending these appropriations."

"Is there any discussion on entering
into a cooperative agreement with the Bureau
of Reclamation for further investigation and
studies on the Fruitland Mesa and Bostwick
Park projects in the amount of $30,OOO? If
not, I will entertain a motion that the
Director be given authority to enter into a
cooperative agreement between the State of
Colorado and the Bureau of Reclamation in the
amount of $30,000 for further studies on the
Bostwick.Park and Fruitland Mesa projects."

"I so move."

"Second the'motion."

"Is there any discussion? All those in
favor will signify by saying 'aye'; opposed -
the motion is declared passed.

The next one is the San Miguel in which
it is recommended that the State make avail-
able $22,000 to the Bureau to further studies
on the San Miguel project. Are there any
questions or discussion on that?"

I

"San Miguel took probably the biggest cut
out of the Durango office. This amount is
not enough to bring the appropriation for
that office to where they can maintain some
of the key personnel in the Durango office.
Bill Eakes said that approximately 30 in the
Durango office'will be transferred or dis-
