Hote] <br />Reservoir is a Class I dam, with a dam height of2]-feet and a storage capacity of 549 acre-feet. Storage restrictions . <br />were imposed by the State Engineer's Office due to a history of seepage problems. The Ditch Company elected to <br />reconstmct the entire dam, based on reconunendation from Resource Engineer, Inc. The proposed improvements <br />involve reconstmction of the dam embankment to a height of 22-feet with a crest width of 44-feet. The existing <br />outlet works will remain in-place, but extended to accommodate the crest widening. A new spillway will be <br />constructed and the County Road reconstructed over the dam crest. The project is currently under constmction and <br />is 95% complete. The project is anticipated to be substantially complete by February of2004 <br /> <br />15. Grand Mesa Reservoir Companv - Rehabi]itation of Reservoir No.1 and No.9 <br />Authorization: Construction Fund County: Mesa <br />Water Source: Gunnison Project Yield: 1,000 Acre-Feet <br />Terms of Loan: $200,000@ 2.4% for 20-yearsProject Type: Reservoir Rehabilitation <br /> <br />The Grand Mesa Reservoir Company operates 6 reservoirs on the Grand Mesa to supply water to ]6 shareholders <br />for the irrigation of 500 acres. This project involves the replacement of the outlet stmctures at each reservoir and <br />also addresses seepage problems at each facility. The project was designed by the City of Grand Junction, one of <br />the major shareholders, and is currently being constructed by the City of Grand Junction. The outlet stmctures have <br />been installed and the seepage problem corrected at both reservoir locations. The City of Grand Junction is <br />currently waiting on the gates, which are anticipated to be installed in the spring of 2004. <br /> <br />16. Town of Akron - Well and Pipeline Constmction <br />Authorization: Small Project Loan Alccount County: Washington <br />Water Source: Wells - Camp Creek Project Yield: 530 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $349,799 @ 3.75% for 30 yrs.ProjectType: WelIlPipeline Const. <br /> <br />The Town of Akron provides domestic water to 1,711 residents, with approximately 880 taps, residential and <br />conunercial. Ten wells feed into a 1.5 million gallon above ground storage tank, constructed in 1996, for treatment and . <br />distribution. Given the low production of the existing well, this project will add 2 new wells with 8,300 linear feet of <br />ductile iron transmission lines to the town's existing system The Town of Akron is looking to have the wells <br />operational by spring of2003. The Ditch Company <br />has 31 shareholders that provide irrigation water for approximately a 7,660-acre service area. This project involves <br />the replacement of 13 check structures along their main ditch. The project was designed by Natural Resource <br />Conservation Service, Monte Vista Office and is currently under constmction. The Contractor has completed the <br />work and is waiting on payment. <br /> <br />18. Stromberger Land and Cattle Companv LLC - Augmentation Recharge <br />Authorization: County: Montezuma <br />Water Source: West Mancos River Project Yield: 9,000 acre-feet <br />Terms of Loan: $5,486,531 @2.80% for 30-years Project Type: Canal Rehabilitation <br /> <br />The Stromberger Land and Cattle Company operates a family ranch located IS miles south of Sterling, Colorado. <br />The ranch currently operates 12 wells that are augmented under the Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte <br />(GASP). GASP operates on a year-to-year basis with no guarantee of continued coverage. The current drought <br />conditions have brought to the foreground the difficulty of providing augmentation for well users. The <br />Stromberger's project will provide its own augmentation water to protect itself against possible curtailment by <br />GASP. Constmction activities include drilling 6 wells to pump water to a series of constructed recharge ponds in <br />the winter months. The project has conunenced construction and is anticipated to be complete by February 6f2004. <br /> <br />19.
