I

I

520

~~R. BARNARD:
GOVERNOR JOHNSON:
Iv;R. MOSES:
HR. STAPLETON:

"Not until the end of this week."

"When is your next meeting?"

"We have one approximately every 90 days."

"I came to this meeting with the thought
that there might be a suggestion on the Gover-
nor's part that Hr. Stephen Hart might be con-
sidered as counsel for the Board. I believe
it would be a mistake not to consider this
matter with the Attorney General and I would
like to move that this matter be tabled and
that the Board reconvene to discuss the ap-
pointment of counsel to the Board further at
a later date."

MR. BARNARD: "I second the motion."

GOVERNOR JOHNSON: "1 believe Yr. Dunbar's request should be
considered by all means. 1 believe it would
be unthinkable not to extend him that courtesy.
Furthermore, Governor-elect McNichols is not
in the city but he will be returning next week
and since the Governor has an important role
in this matter as all of you know, 1 think at
your next meeting the Governor-elect and the
Attorney General should both be present and
discuss the matter with the Board members.
When Steve said he could not be here today,he
asked me to present his wishes to the Board.
1 know there are several persons who would be
glad to have this position and all of them
have so much merit that they need to be given
full consideration. I would like to know when
you have your neyt meeting. Would it be possi-
ble to set a meeting time ahead of the 90
days","

jV;R. MOSES: "I don't believe there is any question
about it. We will set the meeting when you,
Governor-elect KcNichols and Attorney General
Dunbar can b~ present."

GOVERNOR JOHNSON: "It seems to me that that date ought to be
moved up ahead of the 90 days regular meeting
date of the Board. I agree with the Attorney
General that he ought to be present to discuss
the whole range. of operations of the Board with
you and that we should not hesitate a moment
to make it possible for him to be present and
to consider this matter with the Board across
