SPARKS:

,JV/.J

comments they would like to make as a result
of our trip last week."

"I think not, Larry. You have covered
it adequately."

"Any questions from members of the Board
on this item?"

"What's the position of the California
power people? Have they acquiesed?"

"Yes, they apparently have finally agreed
to these operating principles. The State of
California will state officially that it
approves these operating principles.

Now there are two or three matters that
are causing a little difficulty. One is the
sizing of the aqueduct for the Central Arizona
Project. In the original hearings the testi-
mony was a little loose as to the size of the
aqueduct. The testimony by l1r. Dominy, as I
recall, stated that they had not sized the
aqueduct, that it would be somewhere between
1800 and 3800 second feet capacity. This
does not satisfy California and does not fully
satisfy us either. California has made an
issue of this point and I think the size of
that aqueduct must be resolved before these
hearings. I will leave for California this
coming Sunday and will meet with the Califor-
nia people in Los Angeles on Monday and Tues-
day to determine whether or not any agreement
can be reached on this aqueduct sizing. In
fact, such an agreement must be reached prior
to the time hearings are held.

There are some other minor problems in
connection with the bill that yet have to be
worked out. They are not problems which
really concern us but we have offered our
offices to try to help resolve the problems
which are occurring among the Lower Basin
states.
