I

I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. SPARI<S:

,JVVI

projects that were programed are right on
schedule. "

"Let's then turn to Agenda Item #3, H. R.
4671. Larry has been meeting with the Ad-
visory Committee and went down to Washington
last week with several members of that
committee. Will you report on H.R. 4671?"

"This past ...,eek there were about five of
us, as I recall, from Colorado who went back
and met with the members of our congressional
delegation and with officials from California
and Arizona and the Upper Basin. The people
who went back were Bob Barkley, the Chairman
of our Colorado River Advisory Committee, Mr.
Jack Ross and Mr. Bob Fischer of the Denver
Water Board, Mr. Sam Maynes of the Southwestern
District, and John Sayre of the Northern Colo-
rado District and myself.

We also met with f1r; Dominy, the Commis-
sioner of Reclamation, and some of his people,
Mr. Ed Neinberg, Assistant Solicitor for the
Department of the Interior, going over various
problems in connection with H. R. 4671.

In ~tr. Jennings' report it is stated
that the Dolores project has been approved by
the Bureau of the Budget, which is true.
There is no particular problem with the Dolores
project. The Bureau of the Budget gave it a
clean bill of health. They pointed out one
item, I don't know whether it is minor or not,
but they suggested that the price of municipal
and industrial water be increased. They felt
that the price per acre-foot was a little low.
This will be worked out in the definite plan
stage if the project is authorized. So there
is no particular problem whatsoever with the
Dolores Project.

Since the report of Region 4 was prepared
the report of the Secretary of the Interior
to the president, that is, it goes to the
Bureau of the Budget, has been submitted on
