regarding any contribution they can make,
that they are required to make by law, in
connection with various projects. But it
will be, I think, at least two years before
we'll have any actual projects worked out in
that area.

There is a committee appointed under the
auspices of the Southeastern District, com-
posed of representatives throughout the
Valley, cities, farmers and so on, who are
working with the corps of Engineers. We have
also delegated members of our staff to work
on that committee.

I might add just a little bit to what t-tr.
Slizeski has said about the South platte
studies and the schedule. Hearings have been
scheduled on May 2nd for the governors of
the four Upper Basin States. At that time
Governor Love will present testimony request-
ing an additional appropriation for the
Chatfield Darn. The pUblic Works Subcommittee
of the Committee on Appropriations handles all
of these matters, whether they are under the
Corps of Engineers or under the Bureau of
Reclamation. So we will have an opportunity
on May 2nd to present testimony for all of
the projects in Colorado.

Generally, there are no shortages of
funds for any of our projects with the excep-
tion of Chatfield."

"Is there any indication of cutbacks
because of Viet Nam so far as any of these
funds are concerned or actual construction?"

"No. We have no indication of any cut-
backs whatsoever. As a matter of fact, it
appears entirely likely that Congress will
exceed the recommended budget for these public
works expenditures. The cutback occurred in
the president's budget and the only way we
were seriously involved was with the Chatfield
project because it is a new start. The other
