On the Mount Carbon Flood control project
on Bear Creek, on 28 February 1966 officials
of the Colorado Highway Department, the Colo-
rado Water Conservation Board, the Inter-
County Regional Planning Commission, and
Denver's platte River Development Committee
met in our Omaha offices to discuss methods of
accommodating highway improvements and flood
control requirements in the Bear Creek valley
at the Hount Carbon site. As a result, this
District adopted schedules which provide for
holding a public hearing on the Mount Carbon
project in Denver in mid-July 1966 and for com-
pleting our report in August 1966. The Colorado
Highway Department has advised us that they
will modify their highway construction schedules
SUfficiently to permit congressional consid-
eration of our flood control proposals in the
next congress. "le have requested that the
Chief of Engineers authorize an Interim Report
on Bear Creek.

Regarding flood plain information
schedules in the Denver metropolitan area..'
Volume III of the Denver metropolitan flood
plain information series, which describes the
flood hazard areas on Bear Creek from Morrison
to the mouth and on Clear Creek from Golden
to the mouth was released for public informa-
tion on 6 April 1966. The staff of this Board,
the Inter-county Regional Planning Commission,
and the Omaha District cooperated in acquaint-
ing the public with the availability of this
report at a meeting of the Executive Commit-
tee of the Commission on 6 April, and by
appropriate press coverage. copies of this
report are available through the Water Conser-
vation Board, the Inter-County Regional
Planning Commission, or the Omaha District,
corps of Engineers.
