I

that arrangements can be made as was made in
the case cf the Ramah Dam. Since the site is
well upstream en the Arkansas River frcm any
actual use, it was felt that this amcunt of
water wculd not jeopardize irrigaticn interests
and I hcpe, Mr. Milenski, ycu wcn't take excep-
tion tc that because it is already on the ground.

We have under plan at the present time a
prcject en the Colcrado-Utah line, west cf
Ncrwccd, which will invclve the enlargement
cf the Buckeye Reservoir. It is in the West
Paradox watershed. It's entirely a water man-
agement prcject to prcvide an additional 2,000
acre-feet cf stcrage for irrigation and the
Water Ccnservaticn Beard has been particularly
interested in this project. Larry Merrill, who
is here, has ccntributed substantially tc devel-
cping the necessary informaticn tc shew that
there is sufficient water there to justify the
enlargement. It's been a difficult cne to work
out; feasibility has been somewhat questionable
all the way alcng. I dcn't think we need tc
refer tc it as 'West Paradox', I think we can
just call it plain 'Paradcx'. But I hcpe that
it will eventually be wcrked out and that we
will have a project there tc help these pecple.
They are in a real remote area and actually need
help just the same as anybcdy else.

I

We have investigations under way to deter-
mine indicated feasibility befcre we wculd ask
fer wcrk plan approval. Briefly they are the
Crocked Arroy'c project in the Arkansas Valley
near La Junta; the Box Elder Creek watershed in
the Scuth Platte basin near Fcrt Ccllins; Eaten
watershed near Greeley; plum Creek watershed
near Castle Reck. In this ccnnection we are
werking with the Ccrps of Engineers and will
ccordinate with them en an ultimate plan tc tie
in with their studies in connecticn with the
Chatfield Reservcir and their cverall Scuth
Platte investigaticns. We are lcoking at a
watershed project near Cancn City that will
involve the constructicn cf twc or three small
