:>.L.UL.

net been actually started. But they have, under
Cclcradc law, fcrmed a conServancy district and
they are in a positicn new tc move forward with
this. They need only one easement involving
cne structure and if it isn't possible tc
negctiate fer it, they will condemn the land
fer this particular purpcse.

The next three projects invclve imprcvements
tc irrigaticn systems. We have a project near
LOveland that is under construction and it will
prcvide a storage reservoir with a capacity of
5,000 acre-feet to augment the current stcrage
facilities. The irrigation system will be
revamped and improved tc conserve the water
that is available in that particular area. We
have right next to it a project called the
Louden prcject and it is entirely water manage-
ment; there is nc flcod preventicn involved in
it. It invclves the imprcvement cf the irriga-
ticn system in that area. The next cne I will
menticn is the pine River prcject in this area
near Ignacio. Ccnstructicn there is under way
at this mcment. I was cut yesterday and lcoked
at cne flccdwater retarding dam site where ccn-
structicn is under way. There will be twc
buil~there and also the irrigaticn system will
be imprcved by realigning canals and putting
in necessary ccntrol structures.

Actually there has only been cne multi-
purpose structure built under this program in
Colcradc and that is Ramah Dam near Simla. It
invclves the stcrage of scme 5,000 acre-feet cf
flccd preventicn and 500 acre-feet for recrea-
tion. The State Game, Fish and Parks Department
cocperated in this in sharing half the cost of
the recreaticn peel. They are alsc administer-
ing the recreational area which has develcped
intc a nice fishing place.

As ycu folks know better than I, the prob-
lem of making available water fer recreation is
something that is rather acute. We are hopeful
though that where the possibilities are there,

I

I
