The varicus features of the silt prcject
mcve tcward ccmpleticn. Rifle Gap Dam is more
than 75 percent ccmpleted. placement of the
dam embankment and spillway structure ccncrete
ccntinues. The ccntractcr plans tc make closure
of the cutlet wcrks abcut Mcvember 1, 1966, thus
initiating storage cf water behind the dam. The
silt pump Canal is ccmpleted, and the Davie
Ditch is nearing ccmpletion with over 90 per-
cent cf the ccntract work acccmplished. Ccn-
crete placements in the Silt pumping plant go
ahead. The contract is about 60 percent ccm-
pleted. The Dry Elk Valley Lateral is ccm-
pleted, and satisfactory progress is being made
en excavaticn for canal rehabilitaticn and con-
structicn cf the Grass Valley Canal Siphcn.
Overall ccmpleticn of this ccntract is listed
at abcut 70 percent.

Bids were cpened en September 8, 1966, for
construction cf the Silver Jack Dam, principal
feature cf the Bestwick Park Project in west-
central Colcrado. The apparent low bidder is
Johnsen Brothers Highway and Heavy Construc-
tcrs, Inc., and D. H. Blattner and Sons, Inc.,
a jcint venture (Litchfield, Minnescta), with
a bid cf $3,539,101. Award cf contract is pend-
ing. The dam will be an earth fill embankment
en Cimarron Creek rising 138 feet abcve the
streambed with a crest length of 1070 feet.
The Bestwick Park Project will provide a sup-
plemental water supply fer 4,500 acres cf
presently inadequately irrigated land and a
full water supply fer 1,600 acres of new iand.

The transmissicn system fer the Cclcradc
River Storage project is nearing ccmpleticn with
230-kv lines frcm Cheyenne tc Glen Canycn and
two 345-kv lines frcm Glen Canycn tc Phoenix in
cperation. The latest of these, the second Glen
