yesterday beginning at 11 A. M. It was a very
colorful and very moving and very gracicus
ceremony. The weather was bright and hct; there
were prcbably 3000 pecple there; the Navajc
Indian people had taken special pains to make
her welccme and tc add a great deal cf variety
and cclcr tc the scene. So I repcrt to ycu
that Glen Canycn Dam is now officially dedi-
cated, having been dcne sc in a very fine and
appropriate manner.

Regicn 4, and the Bureau cf Reclamaticn as
a whcle cf ccurse, wcrk mcst clcsely with this
Board, lccking tc them fer ccnsiderable guid-
ance in our mutual efforts tc aid the rescurce
develcpment program in the Cclcradc River Basin,
so when ycuccme tc Regicn 4 it has considerable
significance fer us and if there is any way
that l1r. Tyner cr myself can aid your visit and
give ycu the projects that are here, both ex-
isting and pending, we are mcst anxious to do
so.

I have filed with you a ccmplete report
cf Regicn 4 activities which, with ycur per-
missicn, I will just highlight.

All prime ccntract wcrk en Blue Mesa Dam
cf the Curecanti Unit is new ccmpleted. The
dam contains 3,000,000 cubic y~rds of earth-
fill material. The ccmpleticn contractcr, with
a little over one-third of the work finished,
is mcving ahead with installaticn cf pcwerplant
and switchyard structures. The first cf two
generatcrs, each with a capacity cf 30,000
kilowatts, is scheduled to gc intc operation
this next spring. That will be the first power
generaticn for the Curecanti unit.

Morrcw pcint Dam and Pcwerplant are abcut
65 percent ccmpleted. Concrete placements are
ccntinuing in the dam prcper and in the under-
ground pcwerplant. Almcst 47,000 cubic yards
of ccncrete were placed in the block sections
