Sediment and erosion surveys and maps have been <br />started, and an inventory of presently irrigated land in the <br />region is nearly complete. Work is about three-quarters complete <br />on estimates of present water use. This is being correlated with <br />the inventory of irrigated land and with state and other federal <br />agencies. Included are estimate,: of irrigation consumptive use <br />and depletions due to evaporation, municipal and industrial and <br />other uses. preliminary data on flood history and present water- <br />shed project status have been assembled. Information on present <br />watershed conditions is being assembled. Preliminary drafts of <br />legal and institutional appendix material have been prepared for <br />review by work group members. <br /> <br />other data presently being developed in the Upper Colorado Region <br />includes economic base and projections, water resources including <br />estimates of modified flows, mineral resources, flood control, <br />irrigation and drainage, municipal and industrial water, recrea- <br />tion, fish and wildlife, electric power, and water quality, <br />pollution control, and health factors. <br /> <br />An in-house report on the Land and Water Areas of the Upper <br />Colorado Region has been prepared and distributed. The upper <br />Colorado Region Plan of Study and network analysis and progress <br />chart have been revised to incorporate the I-year extension of <br />the study required by decreases in funding availability. <br /> <br />A brochure entitled 'This Land, This Water, This West' describing <br />comprehensive studies in the Pacific Southwest was distributed <br />to all participating federal agencies and states. Copies were <br />also made available for distribution to city and county govern- <br />ments, individuals, and other organizations interested in water <br />and land development. <br /> <br />Other Reqions <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The preliminary Plan of Study and budget estimates for the Rio <br />Grande Region have been received. The comprehensive study in <br />this region is presently estimated to be started in FY 1970. <br /> <br />The Arkansas-White-Red is also tentatively planned to start in <br />FY 1970, and the Plan of Study and budget estimates for this region <br />are currently being prepared, <br />
